It was an honor to have the Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services Gareth Ward and Adam Crouch MP- Member for Terrigal visit Kincumber Neighbourhood Centre today.
It was a great opportunity opportunity to show the work we are doing for the community and to show the improvements to our facilities, equipment and the expansion into the Yirang Building.
This was made possible from the Stronger Communities Fund.
Observed annually on 26 May, National Sorry Day remembers and acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as ‘The Stolen Generations’.
National Sorry Day is a day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation. While this date carries great significance for the Stolen Generations and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, it is also commemorated by Australians right around the country.
We had a visit today from Adam Crouch MP – Member for Terrigal and Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast!
Kincumber Neighbourhood Centre Manager Colette Baron and Chairperson Michael Hynes were presented with a check for $255,984 for Youth Programs from the NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund.

In 2020, the theme for Neighbourhood Centre Week is ‘Loneliness: the solution is community’.
Recent research has found 1 in 4 Australians are lonely, and that the ‘loneliness epidemic’ has significant social, health and economic impacts.
Neighbourhood centres by their very nature help combat loneliness by providing a space for people to meet and form meaningful connections through participation in community programs and projects.
Whilst things are different at the moment with Covid-19 we have enjoyed staying connected with our community through our Social Media channels, through phone calls and emails
In honour of Neighbourhood Centre Week we would love for you to share how Kincumber Neighbourhood Centre has helped you or someone you know in the community to connect or helped in any way that has added to their happiness OR share what have you done or had done for you to reduce loneliness in the community.
Leave a comment, share a photo or tag Kincumber Neighbourhood Centre on Facebook!
